MILLADOIRO ALBARIÑO

MILLADOIRO

ALBARIÑO

MILLADOIRO represents the birth of a great oenological vision signed by Alberto Moya, with an approach that challenges the standards and offers a sublime reinterpretation of Albariño. Recognized by our customers as a singular wine, MILLADOIRO stands apart from the traditional acidity of the Galician variety and exhibits an exquisite harmony and captivating complexity. Coming from the prestigious Condado do Tea, in the heart of the D.O. Rías Baixas, this Albariño has captured the attention of the most discerning palates, continuously earning distinctions with scores over 91 points, reaching 95 and a Gold Medal at the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.

MILLADOIRO is not just a wine; it is a tribute to the purity of a land, a testimony of dedication, and an emblem of oenological sophistication.

During 2022, Condado do Tea enjoyed a climate that, although challenging, resulted in a high-quality fruit. The summer presented a warm and unusually dry season, with intense temperatures in July and August that, far from being adverse, acted as a natural concentrate of the essence of our grapes. The maturation of the vines accelerated, forging a vibrant and deep identity in every bunch.

September brought light rains, just enough to revitalize the vineyards, offering each plant a reprieve that allowed it to balance its ripening profile. Harvest was carried out in mid-month, under a clear and constant sun, marking the close of a unique season. The collection, guided by a deep respect for each grape, captured the best of the harvest in an optimal state of health and natural elegance.

Each bottle of Milladoiro encapsulates the meticulous dedication and precision of its production, resulting in an exceptional Albariño that honors the Galician land and Alberto Moya’s vision. Through each step, the spirit of excellence is maintained at every moment of its elaboration.

  1. Selective Harvest: The journey begins in the vineyard, where each bunch is hand-picked into small 15 kg boxes, selecting only those that fulfill the Milladoiro promise of quality.
  2. Manual Selection in the Winery: In the winery, a second selection is made under Alberto’s expert eye, ensuring that only the best advances in this excellence process.
  3. De-stemming and Gentle Crushing: To preserve the purity of the must, the bunches are de-stemmed and gently crushed, marking the start of a careful transformation.
  4. Cold Maceration in Stainless Steel: In rigorously controlled conditions, the must undergoes a cold pre-fermentation maceration, below 8°C, allowing the wine to capture the defining aromas.
  5. Obtaining the Free-Run Juice: The first essence of Milladoiro comes from the free-run juice, delicately obtained by gentle pressing, representing 90% of each bottle, concentrating its authenticity and quality.
  6. Champenoise Pressing: The process continues with a subtle pressing, following the champenoise method, resulting in the remaining 10% of the wine that adds depth and character.
  7. Controlled Fermentation in Stainless Steel: At a carefully regulated temperature and protected from oxidation, the wine ferments and evolves, with daily monitoring of every nuance of its density and flavor through tasting.
  8. Aging on Lees in Concrete Eggs: For seven months, Milladoiro rests on its fine lees in a concrete egg, integrating manoproteins that enhance its structure and give it a velvety texture.
  9. Vegan Clarification with Bentonite and Pea Protein: Remaining true to its vegan ethos, the wine is carefully clarified to achieve its brilliance and clarity without compromising its nature.
  10. Gentle Filtration: To preserve Milladoiro’s integrity, the wine undergoes a delicate filtration before being bottled, ready to be presented to the most exquisite palates.

BALBUZARD MENCÍA

BALBUZARD

MENCÍA

Mencía is a red variety that expresses its distinctive character and delicacy in every corner of Galicia. In the hands of Alberto Moya, this grape transforms into a statement of elegance and authenticity. From the south of Galicia, in the D.O. Monterrei, BALBUZARD honors the potential of a unique Mencía: young, vibrant, but crafted with the same care and precision given to the great wines.

BALBUZARD is Alberto Moya’s second great creation, and when choosing a red variety, he did not hesitate to opt for Mencía. Its refinement and the delicacy it acquires under the Galician climate make this wine a truly special offering, conceived for those who know how to appreciate the exclusive and seek to discover, in every sip, the essence of a land and its winemaking tradition.

In 2022, the climate in the Monterrei region, Ourense, was characterized by unusually warm temperatures and dry periods, particularly intense during the summer months, which posed a unique challenge for the vineyards. The high temperatures in July and August contributed to an accelerated and concentrated ripening of the grapes, revealing a vibrant and characterful profile. The summer drought was interrupted by light rains towards the end of September and early October, refreshing the vineyard and allowing the vines to regain balance in their aromatic and acidity profiles.

The harvest took place under clear skies and optimal climatic conditions, thus capturing the essence of this exceptional vintage at its ideal ripening point. The result is a wine that combines the aromatic intensity of the warm season with a subtle elegance on the palate, reflecting the natural conditions that define this exclusive wine region of northwest Spain.

1. Selective Harvest: The journey of BALBUZARD begins in the vineyard, where each bunch of Mencía is carefully handpicked, selecting only the best grapes in small 15 kg boxes. As a single-vineyard wine, all the grapes come from the same plot, ensuring exceptional purity and consistency.
2. Manual Selection in the Winery: In the winery, a second selection takes place, ensuring that only the best advance in the winemaking process. Each bunch is meticulously evaluated to maintain the highest quality standards.
3. De-stemming and Gentle Crushing: To preserve the integrity of the must, the bunches are de-stemmed and gently crushed. This is the first step toward creating a refined wine that respects its origins.
4. Cold Maceration in Stainless Steel: In a controlled environment, the must undergoes a cold pre-fermentation maceration, below 8ºC, which allows the extraction of the most delicate and characteristic aromas of Mencía, while maintaining the freshness and expressiveness of the wine.
5. Controlled Fermentation in Stainless Steel: Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a strictly controlled temperature to preserve the purity of the flavors. Every day, the wine’s density and profile are monitored through extensive tastings, ensuring perfect evolution.
6. Gentle Pressing: The must is gently pressed, respecting the finest characteristics of the grape, extracting only what is necessary to complete the process without compromising quality.
7. Aging on Lees in Stainless Steel: The wine undergoes a five-month aging on its fine lees in stainless steel, where the released manoproteins enrich its texture, giving it a unique smoothness and complexity.
8. Vegan Clarification with Bentonite and Pea Protein: Following an ethical philosophy, the wine is clarified with bentonite and pea protein, ensuring brilliant clarity without adding animal-derived ingredients.
9. Blending: Inspired by great American winemakers, Alberto Moya creates a blend with the Araúxa variety, which has been aged in French oak barrels. This touch, comprising less than 10% of the blend, adds complexity and additional nuances, elevating the Mencía profile to a new level of elegance.
10. Gentle Filtration: Before being bottled, the wine undergoes a subtle filtration that preserves its purity and essence, ensuring that each bottle is a true reflection of the quality that defines it.

Appearance: A bright ruby-red color, this Mencía unfolds its visual intensity with a clarity that reflects the purity and elegance of the 2022 vintage. Its tone invites the exploration of an elegant and sophisticated wine.

Nose: The nose reveals a captivating profile. Aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherries, currants, and blackberries intertwine with delicate touches of soft spices and aromatic herbs, typical of D.O. Monterrei. A subtle floral note emerges with hints of violet, adding complexity that invites further exploration. Over time in the glass, notes emerge that show the aging imparted by the Araúxa blend.
